Decanter Centrifuges are a key component in drilling mud cleaning on a Drilling Rig and Hutchison Hayes has been offering solids control equipment to the oilfield for nearly 100 Years.  To maintain drilling mud in an optimum condition results in less waste, reduced operating cost and a high efficiency of the total solids control system.  

Mechanical separation of solids from the mud system through the use of a Decanter is a highly-effective means of maintaining proper mud weight and viscosity. When properly used Decanters enable users to maintain the mud properties within the prescribed range as per the drilling program. Typically, decanters are the last processing units in the line-up of solids control equipment.

Hutchison Hayes has developed a wide range of decanting centrifuge equipment to provide optimal results.  In weighted drilling fluid systems, decanters recover as much as 95% of heavy barite, which is returned to be re-used in the active system, while also removing finer, lower-gravity solids.  By discarding lower-gravity solids our equipment is able to maintain a higher level of fluid consistency and help produce higher drilling efficiencies.

Marine Oil Treatment

Separators and fuel conditioning equipment are part of a key balance onboard of a ship. Not only do they protect your valuable engine, they help you utilize the full potential of the oils you work with.

By removing particles and impurities, centrifugal separators leave what’s essential: energy-rich fuel or clean and protective lubricant. 
Treatment and Conditioning of Fuel Oil Diesel engines on ships are driven by diesel or heavy fuel oils which are frequently contaminated with water and solids. To enable the engines to work with the minimum wear possible, these oils have to undergo continuous treatment. 
Hutchison Hayes Separators are able to remove water and unwanted solids reliably and efficiently from the fuel oil, even under the most extreme conditions at sea. This provides reliable protection for important engine components such as cylinder liners, pistons, piston rings or the injection system.

Under ordinary treatment conditions, we recommend the single-stage treatment of diesel or heavy fuel oils by means of a Separator. At the heart of each separator system is the HH control system. This is a system which is designed for unmanned i.e. unsupervised operation.

Treatment of Lube Oil

In addition to fuel oil, lube oil also needs to have water and other impurities removed on a continuous basis. This is the only reliable way to prevent symptoms of wear appearing on engine components and resulting in engine failures. At the same time, separation increases the service life of the lube oil.

In daily operation, the lube oils of engines are continuously contaminated. All rotating or sliding parts deposit metal impurities. Added to this are residues of the combustion process, condensed water decomposition products which settle in the lube oil sump. The oils themselves can also contain acids which, in combination with catalyzing foreign substances, can result in premature ageing of the oil. At the same time, residues of the combustion process and incombustible constituents from the cylinder can also reach the lube oil circuit. These residues can lead to considerable symptoms of wear at bearing points, pistons and cylinders.

It is therefore all the more important to separate all unwanted substances so that the service life of the oil is prolonged and engine components are not subjected to wear. Separators from Hutchison Hayes clean and purify the lube oil efficiently and continuously.

Treating Hydraulic Oil

Hydraulic oil, as well as lube oil, has to be continuously treated on many ships. The Hutchison Hayes separators, developed for this comparatively small product flow; are characterized not only by their efficiency, but also by the simplicity of operation of these small separator systems
